This album is my first Swing genre album and is packed with 10 unique original Swing songs! I composed and arranged all of these songs myself.

This music was conceived and created for a dancing audience, particularly the large group of dancers known as "Swing dancers." In my mind, this distinction also includes those who dance Balboa, Blues, Lindy Hop or any other genre of dance that may fall under the umbrella term of Swing dancing. The music on "Head to Head" runs the gamut of these various dance styles, and contains a variety of moods/grooves for various settings.

It is an honour and privilege to have recorded this music with some of my favourite musicians, who are all versatile and accomplished in their own rights. They are as follows:

The laid-back groove of the Brooks Prumo Orchestra hits the sweet spot. This is fine swing without any try-hard hype. The studio mix is balanced, and it hops and slides like music should (unlike some other contemporary jazz). "Out of Nowhere" is outstanding: inspired arrangement, knockout playing, genuine emotion. The vocal numbers get better with every listen, and "Blue Lester" has about it a certain sunburn-on-your-skin mint julep nighttime ease. jakespatz

I love this ENTIRE album!!! How to chose a favourite (Well Read Baby?!) Keenan's album is a tour de force of songs that were written now, but he's so totally internalized the style that they sound like they are from another century! The musicianship, arrangements, and the voice of Laura Windley are great. This is my fave vocal showing from Laura, too! (and she has lots of great records) Can't recommend this highly enough Alex P
